Hannah
Large-scale paintings and drawings are suspended from the ceiling, displayed at various depths, so that when viewed from the 'stage' directly in front, the impression is one of unity, all of the images fit together to form a tightly knit group. The fact that the paintings are not displayed traditionally on the bare walls is reassuring to the viewer, these are accessible objects and not frail, old, dusty paintings to be viewed and then forgotten. When viewed from the raised platform area, the line of plants bisecting the room, intended to act as a barrier to stop people approaching the paintings, will not seem as such, but instead as a carpet of green at the very bottom of the viewer's line of sight.
