I wanted abstract paintings which would zing out against the plain decor, but I wanted one painting to be different, so I chose the nude which is very striking. I chose the sculpture to provide a further element and I like dogs so it spoke to me. In the arrangement I wanted the nude to stand out and be more of a focus against the splashes of colour which are guaranteed to catch your eye. You can sit on the sofa and observe the nude with all the colour behind you - or if your mood changes, you can sit on the other sofa and be uplifted by the colour. The room is a bit schizophrenic in that way. I wouldn't say that I have a split personality (!) but I think the room is very personal - it's a useable living space which I've tried to make unique by having the art as the focus. It's not a themed space and so it would be in keeping with the other rooms in the house.
