i really like my room. :) my immediate and first choice of art work was the photo of the girls' performance art' garden party'. I love this photo - i love that it was taken in the uk, i love the surreal-ness of it. it makes you want to look closer, over and over. It reminds me of childhood but screams out with a perverted sauciness. i like my artwork cheeky! next was maya hewitt's 'mini gang'. much more my 'style', i like how it is fine art with it's roots in simple illustration. it's not too busy. it's not over complicated and it's this sad simpleness that i like about it. not normally a fan on abstract art, paresh nrshinga's 'the start of something beautiful' really caught my attention. what more of can you ask from a piece - that it makes you look? the colours are sumptuous and really drew me in. always a fan of british based artwork, i chose jonathan stewerdson's 'platform reflections' as my final framed piece. again, this is simple like 'mini gang', true to life/accurate like 'garden party' and yet warped into something abstract, like paresh's work. i like how these four pieces are extremely different styles, and yet work together when on a 'wall'. There's a link through the colours used, and the playfulness but loneliness that runs through them all. i chose aran d higgs 'eight fold salver' as my final piece. normally less interested in sculpture than paintings/prints/photos, i enjoyed having the freedom to pick a piece for my 'room'. this piece is beautiful, delicate, and ties in nicely with the room - not overbearing, but still unique enough to stand out on it's own. thanks.
