About This Artwork
Robert studied illustration at Swindon College and at Kingston-upon-Thames School of Art. A lifelong love of Cornwall and the sea irresistibly drew him to leave London on graduation and apply his painting skills to the inspiration he found here. Since doing so he has fast developed a distinctive style in which the influence of his favourite painters Vermeer and Edward Hopper can be clearly seen. His still lifes have a dark intensity and quietude in the Dutch tradition and his landscapes and figures draw upon the atmospheric stillness of Hopper. Requiring huge patience and technical ability, few young painters achieve the detail and competence that Robert shows in his work. He has the maturity and traditional skills necessary to enable him to depict light and tone with authority, without being simply photographic. His tender and thoughtful approach is reflected in all his work.

About This Artwork
David Morgan is a passionate and talented artist with a distinctive style - the heavy use of oil and textural quality he brings to the work are very appealing. Collectors around the country have bought his work for its scale, energy and colour. Morgan is often drawn to the wide open spaces of Dartmoor. His method is à la prima, or, in one sitting. That’s to say he tries to start and finish his painting in a single session - quite an achievement, especially during an English summer, with such variable light and weather.

About This Artwork
Nicholas St.John Rosse moved to Trethevy on the North Cornish Coast in 1981, where the wild cliffs and beaches provide the artist with endless settings for his figure and beach compositions. His paintings are concerned with the human figure and how it relates to its immediate surroundings. This could be in the studio, house, garden or street but in most of his current paintings it applies to the seashore. All the visual and tactile properties of sand, rock, water and light envelop his subjects both pictorially and in reality
